Saltwater Shrimp
I hope the information on this site will help you with any questions you may have. All of the information on this site will be from what I have read both on the internet and in books, and also from people who like myself have some of these great saltwater crustaceans.
From what is the best salinity of the water to what they eat also what would be good tank mates for them. Some of them will help the fish out in the tank like the Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp while others will eat them like the Mantis Shrimp and others that your tank mates will eat like the Brine Shrimp.
There are some like the Tiger Pistol Shrimp that has a symbiosis with some fish of the Goby family. The
Goby helps them with there eye sight and the shrimp shares his food and is the one that builds the tunnels where they live. With all pistol shrimp you need to make sure of the tank mates or they may become diner. They will eat other shrimp like the cleaner shrimp.
The Fire Shrimp is a beautiful shrimp with its bright red color. This little shrimp is know by a few different names such as: The Blood Red Fire Shrimp, Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp, Fire Shrimp, or Blood Shrimp. The diet of the Blood Shrimp does include frozen and dried, live or frozen foods, and flaked foods. They do eat other shrimp and will eat things like silversides.
Just remember that they do not tolerate copper or high levels of nitrates in the aquarium. This goes for all the different kinds of shrimp. Also they will require correct levels of iodine in the water to promote proper molting. As we all know we want our little shrimp to be as happy as possible so make sure they have what they need to grow and be healthy and happy.
